Rate X: An Amazon Shopper’s Best Friend!

Rate X.jpg

If you’re typical Singaporean shopaholic that frequents Amazon.com, this post is for you!

What’s RateX?

Simply put, its a Google Chrome extension that allows you to avoid hidden transaction fees and bad bank exchange rates whenever you pay for your purchases through the extension.

Rate X converts your total cart value into your home currency in real time, taking reference from the “Google” exchange rate. If you don’t believe its the true converted amount, you can always cross-reference XE.com, Google Finance or Yahoo Finance before paying.

I’ve personally tried it on a SGD$188.3916 order and RateX allowed me to save SGD$5.99!

Its like getting a free coupon each time you shop!

How To Get Started?

Step 1: Download the RateX extension for Google Chrome

Step 2: Enable the extension while shopping on Amazon. When done, proceed to checkout as usual. The RateX extension will automatically detect and convert your order into SGD thereafter!

Step 3: You may then proceed to pay for your order through the extension pop-up!

Step 4: You will be notified by email and/or SMS upon confirmation!

*BONUS* Step: Check out this other chrome extension which automatically searches for and applies coupon codes for you!

For more details including the magic that goes on behind the curtains of the extension, feel free to browse their lovely site!

Go ahead, give it a try and let me know what you think!

Full disclosure: I personally know the CEO of RateX, who’s an awesome guy! That’s why I’m writing this to help him promote his extension. 😀
