On this day, in the eyes of my Lord, I officially recognise my new Godfather! 🙏🏻😇
This time around, it was the Godson who chose the Godparent haha 😂
O how God continued to work in such mysterious ways! 🙌🏻
2 months ago, I was searching for naturopathic doctors to job-shadow in Singapore and his website wasn’t even on the first Google results page! Somehow I had a good feeling when I saw his face on his site and decided to email him.
Upon meeting him, I was pleasantly surprised to find a painting of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in his office which meant he is Catholic too!
Since then, I have had the privilege and blessing to learn sooo much about Naturopathy and Herbal Medicine from him. As well as other more mystical/spiritual forms of medicine such as St.Hildegard Medicine! More importantly, he has helped me grow tremendously in my own faith through his own example and knowledge.
His spiritual knowledge is as impressive as his medical knowledge and he has often quenched my newfound thirst for spiritual answers.
In my 25 years of life, there have been very few people in this world whom I feel comfortable with discussing about faith related matters. Somehow I never really liked opening up to this topic of conversation, believing it for the obsessed or fanatical.
However, coincidentally or by divine intervention, Sebastian has entered my life at just the right juncture where I have recently begun to experience a sort of “Spiritual Re-awakening or Transfiguration”!
Since getting to know him, he already felt so much more like a Godfather to me than any of my previous Godfathers! I often ask him all kinds of questions related to our faith and the Catholic Church and he has both quenched and ignited my curiousity even further! Because of him, I am more eager than ever to “re-learn” everything!
I never expected to find a new God Father at this age… especially since I was just searching for a doctor to shadow to fulfil the prerequisites for my future course.
I truly feel that God had a hand in all of this. That Sebastian was sent to fulfil multiple roles in my life from mentor and friend and eventually a Godfather to journey spiritually with.
I really like how he can relate seemingly unrelated things like our diet, lifestyle, ecological impact and even medicine to our faith! He feels very strongly about how people these days lead very disconnected lives, particularly regarding their mind, body and spiritual lives. (More about this in future posts!)
We had a simple, private prayer ceremony in church to make it formal before God. After that, he surprised me with a souvenir to remember the occasion – a “Minutebook” to write down impactful spiritual quotes and a green scapular!
Coincidentally, the day before, we were having another one of these spiritual conversations when a feather floated down in slow motion onto his shoulder. As feathers are commonly associated with angels and believing it to be from his guardian angel, I promptly took it and placed it onto our table to snap a picture.
Lo-and-behold! There was a small feather already on the table at the position where I placed that big one.
I took this as a sign from heaven and I guess my interpretation of it is that the small one represents me, just starting out on my spiritual journey. That big one represents him who started his own journey many decades ago. He was a buddhist back then and was suffering from a long bout of depression. One fateful day, the statue of the Mother of our God in a church drew him to go and pray before her. Soon after, his depression was cured! Almost instantaneously, as if Mother Mary had granted him a miracle through her intercession!
One last significant thing happened as we left the church to walk back to Seeds Garden – his holistic, herb-based vegetarian restaurant. A most unusual pigeon crossed our path! Its feathers were a light grey hue but had a pinkish-rose-green shimmer to it! I have never seen such a beautiful pigeon in my entire life! Unfortunately I do not have a photo to show it as it flew away the moment I whipped my phone out.
I believe it could have been a saint or angel come to give the lord’s blessings. Pigeons remind me so much of Doves – the symbol and most common animal form of the Holy Spirit most often mentioned in the bible and drawn in christian paintings. They look so peaceful and incapable of any harm!
To conclude, every day, I truly thank God and sing his praises from the bottom of my heart and soul for the countless blessings I have received and continue to receive each day. 🙌🏻
Sebastian is just one of so many but one of the most precious blessing indeed!
